The Computer Recycling Center will remove Temple University owned surplus computer and electronic equipment from any campus location at no charge. A department representative with an AccessNet username and password must submit a request through the surplus form following the instructions below.
The CRC takes just about anything that plugs in and the items that relate to what plugs in. Qualified items include but are not limited to: Computers, monitors, printers, multi-function printers, scanners, fax machines, TVs, VCRs, DVD players, cell phones, laptops, servers, tablets, projectors, toner*, inks*, adapters, cords, wires, and any media that stores data (cds, dvds, harddrives, thumb drives, tapes, memory cards etc).
- Back up and remove university and proprietary data. The CRC will purge all data after receiving equipment. Once the CRC has the equipment, data recovery is not possible.
- Log in and complete the surplus form . Include descriptions and serial numbers for large/significant items such as computers, monitors, printers, and scanners. Also include a description and quantity of smaller items in notes section.
- Obtain a virtural approval from your department or budget head through the system.
- Disconnect, pack up, organize and secure all equipment and data while awaiting pickup. All mobile device passwords and cloud accounts must be removed and detached: Apple devices must be iCloud unlocked and Andriods removed from Google Accounts.
- Computer Recycling Center will contact you within seven days to arrange pickup.
