An SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificate is the digital equivalent of an identification card that is used with a public key encryption system to provide security on the Internet. SSL certificates, which are also referred to as digital IDs, public key certificates, or identity certificates, are issued by a trusted third-party certification authority, such as GlobalSign or VeriSign.
Temple uses a company called Venafi to manage certificates from multiple Certificate Authorities in one location. For more information, see our Venafi Onboarding documentation.
