SPSS offers advanced statistical analysis, a vast library of machine learning algorithms, text analysis, open-source extensibility, big data integration, and seamless application deployment.

Eligibility

The SPSS Standard Campus Edition is:

  • available for use by students, faculty, and instructors
  • to be used for teaching and research purposes only (e.g., classroom instruction, academic research and course work),
  • available for Windows 10 and 11, and macOS
  • provided as an annual license that runs from January 1 through December 31 each year.

Obtaining the Software: Students

Students can access SPSS Standard Campus Edition on Temple's central computer lab computers, loaner laptops, and/or download one copy for a personal machine at no charge.

  • Standard Campus Edition Student License – Students are eligible for one SPSS license for one personally owned device. This license matches the Standard Campus Edition SPSS loaded on campus computers and includes the following modules: Data Preparation, Bootstrapping, Custom Tables, Advanced Statistics, and Regression.

  • SPSS Statistics Premium Campus Edition – Certain classes require SPSS Premium Edition. Students need to obtain this license key from their professor. If a student needs a premium version on their own, they should purchase it from Hearne Software . ( SPSS Premium feature list )

Downloading the Software
Students can download the installation files and obtain the valid license key at download.temple.edu .

Obtaining the Software: Faculty and Staff

  • Standard Campus Edition Individual Key (Faculty and Staff) – These licenses are for personal or Temple-owned computers. You will receive individual keys matching the quantity listed on the request. This edition includes the following modules: Data Preparation, Bootstrapping, Custom Tables, Advanced Statistics and Regression.

    Charge: $0
  • Standard Campus Edition Group Key (IT Admins) – These licenses are for Temple-owned computers only. You will receive one key with an activation quantity matching the requested quantity. The expectation is that you are using a software tool to manage licenses. This edition includes the following modules: Data Preparation, Bootstrapping, Custom Tables, Advanced Statistics and Regression.

    Charge: $0
  • Premium Campus Edition Home Use Pack of 20 – These licenses are for personal or Temple-owned computers and must be purchased in packs of 20. They can be used by students or faculty/staff members. This edition includes all SPSS modules: Data Preparation, Bootstrapping, Custom Tables, Advanced Statistics, Regression, Forecasting, Decision Trees, Missing Values, Categories, Complex Samples, Exact Tests, Conjoint, Direct Marketing and Neural Networks.

    Charge: $1,058 per pack
  • IBM SPSS AMOS – Faculty, staff, or students looking to order IBM SPSS AMOS should be referred to 3rd party educational discount software sites for SPSS, such as Hearne Software . Please note: IBM SPSS AMOS will not be available under the University site license offering.

Ordering Details
Temple administrators, business managers, and IT support staff can order SPSS licenses for their respective areas. If you are a faculty member, please work with one of the contacts mentioned above in your department. Ordering instructions appear below:

  1. Log in to TUportal .
  2. Select TUmarketplace .
  3. Under Showcased Suppliers , select Computer Business Services and search for SPSS .
  4. You can then select v29 or v30 from the key options listed above. Please note in the req if the licenses are for PC or Mac.

Downloading the Software
Once you order an SPSS license(s) as described above, you will receive a license key(s) from the Purchasing office. You can then download the installation files at download.temple.edu . Note that the software will not function without a valid license key.
