Computer Recycling Center

What is this Offering? 

The Computer Recycling Center (CRC) collects and processes surplus Temple University-owned computer and electronic equipment. When possible, devices are refurbished and redeployed for university use. Otherwise, equipment is securely recycled in accordance with university policies.

Who is Eligible to use it?

All Temple University departments with surplus electronic equipment.

How do I use it?

  • Log in with your AccessNet credentials and submit a surplus equipment request form.
  • List major items (e.g., computers, printers, monitors) with serial numbers, and summarize smaller items in the notes.
  • Ensure your department or budget head provides virtual approval.
  • Prepare all equipment for pickup by disconnecting and packing it, and removing any cloud account locks (e.g., iCloud, Google).
  • CRC will contact you within seven days to arrange pickup.

Cost and Limitations

  • There is no charge for CRC-managed pickups.
  • Departments are responsible for securing data until CRC takes possession.
  • Once received, CRC will permanently erase all data.
  • CRC does not recover data or retain software licenses.
  • Non-electronic surplus is managed by Facilities Management.
