Multi-Factor Authentication

What is this Offering?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an added layer of security that protects your Temple University accounts by requiring two forms of verification:
    1.    Your AccessNet username and password
    2.    A secondary method, typically your phone

Once set up, MFA is required when logging into key university systems such as TUportal, TUmail, Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft 365, and more. Temple uses Duo Security to manage MFA, offering options like push notifications, passcodes, or text messages to verify your identity.

Alternatively, you can press Manage Phones for MFA on the right hand side of this page.

Who is Eligible to use it?

All Temple University students, faculty, and staff are required to use MFA to access major university websites and services.

How do I use it?/How do I Request it?

To set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), log in to TUportal, go to Manage My Account, and follow the steps to add and activate a phone using the Duo Mobile app.

Once enrolled, you’ll use a second step - such as a push notification, text message, or passcode - to verify your identity when signing in to key Temple systems like TUportal, TUmail, Zoom, and Canvas.

For detailed instructions, visit the MFA setup guide KB article.
