Utilizing industry standards, Network Services implements, manages, and operates the university's data network offering 5 star load balancing solutions to Temple University (TU) and all subsidiary TU locations within the continental United States (CONUS). The Load Balancer service provides an extra measure of stability and redundancy for applications, systems and servers residing behind network firewalls. Redundant configurations of four F5 Bip-IP appliances, two per data center, are installed for Temple University’s Main Campus network.
- Network Services supports the design, implementation and operation of the load balancing environment.
- Network Services utilizes a formal load-balancing system to ensure maximum availability, greater performance and increased reliability of Temple University’s networked applications.
- Network Services works directly with F5 load balancer enterprise support to consult for deployments and resolve any outages or system performance issues at any stage of deployment.
- This offering covers delivery of load balanced data connectivity to all CONUS Temple University locations including the Data Centers.
- Support for load balancer service(s) are to be submitted to the TU Help Desk who will create a SmartIT ticket for assignment to Network Services.
- Any device requesting load balancer service must be logically located behind the TU firewalls.
