Panopto Video Storage and Streaming

What is this Product? 

Panopto is Temple University’s supported video platform for lecture recording, screencasting, video streaming, and content management. It is designed to enhance instructional delivery and multimedia integration within Temple’s learning environments. Faculty and students can use Panopto to create, share, and manage video content seamlessly through integrations with approved learning management systems.

Who is Eligible to use it?

This service is available to all Temple University faculty and students. Eligibility is automatically provisioned through learning management system (LMS) integration.

How do I use it?/How do I Request it?

Panopto is integrated with vendor-approved LMS platforms (e.g., Canvas). User accounts are automatically provisioned based on course enrollment.

Core support and service responsibilities include:
    •    Integration with LMS and vendor-approved AV lecture capture systems.
    •    Automated user account provisioning and single sign-on access.
    •    First-line support for issues like capture failures, content recovery, and training on available features.
    •    Directory access and content creation permissions management.
    •    Storage retention policies based on content usage.
    •    Escalation of vendor-specific issues and feature requests.
    •    Periodic security audits to maintain platform integrity.

Cost and Limitations

There is no additional cost to eligible users. The following items are not included in this service:

  • Video content creation services (i.e., filming/editing on your behalf).
  • Application upgrades or custom configurations beyond Panopto’s built-in settings.
  • Custom feature development or third-party integrations not approved by the vendor.
