GitLab - Version Control

What is this Offering?

Gitlab is a web-based developer tool for storing and sharing computer code in repositories inside ITS, with limited availability to departments outside of ITS.  It is a DevOps platform that supports building projects that can be stand-alone or used with Kubernetes.  It is not 'git', which is a separate version control system responsible for tracking changes in files.  The 'git' command creates repositories that may be stored in GitLab

Scope

  • Ensure the availability of GitLab.
  • Maintain near-current versions of GitLab in production ( https://git.temple.edu ).
  • Support a test version ( https://git-test.temple.edu )
  • Provide support as needed in the Slack #help-sre channel.
