OWLcard

What is this Service? 

The OWLcard is Temple University’s official ID and campus access credential. It enables students, faculty, and staff to:

  • Access university buildings, residence halls, and labs
  • Use meal plans and Diamond Dollars at campus dining locations
  • Check into recreational facilities
  • Release print jobs at campus printers
  •  Access parking facilities

Temple has adopted a Mobile First model - OWLcard is now available digitally via Apple Wallet and Google Pay. Physical cards are issued only when mobile use is not possible.

Who is Eligible to use it?

The following groups are eligible to use OWLcard:

  •  Students registered for Orientation or enrolled in an upcoming term at a domestic Temple campus
  • Faculty and staff with active roles at Temple University

Users must have a valid TUID, a submitted and approved ID photo, and Multi-Factor Authentication enabled in TUportal.

How do I use it?

Step 1: Complete the OWLcard Mobile Checklist
    •    Submit an approved photo via TUportal → “Get My TUID”
    •    Set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) under Student Tools → Next Steps

Step 2: Add OWLcard to your mobile device

Cost and Limitations

There is no fee for OWLcard Mobile. A replacement physical card may incur a fee if issued. Limitations:

  • Some older buildings may still require physical cards or keys.
  • iPhone 6/6 Plus or newer (iOS 12+)
  • Android phone with NFC and Android 5.0+
  • Not all international users may be eligible for Mobile OWLcard
  • Your access permissions may change based on your enrollment or employment status
