Overview

The TECH Center features the following resources:

  • a student computer center with approximately 500 fixed workstations and 50 wireless loaner laptops. There is also a Laptop Share kiosk, and many high-speed duplex and color specialty printers
  • 13 breakout rooms and 2 MediaScape tables for collaboration and group study
  • specialized labs including specialty printing, video editing, recording booths, multimedia studio, graphic design, music composition, advanced technology lab, and "quiet" zones
  • social space for students with lounge areas and digital signage
  • Technology Support Center for students, faculty, and staff

Breakout Rooms

TECH Center breakout rooms offer students the privacy and resources needed to work collaboratively. These rooms are intended for academic functions such as group projects, practicing presentations and viewing course-oriented media.

Equipment Loans

Laptops, iPads and additional equipment are available for a four-hour loan from the TECH Center Lab.

Multimedia Studio

 

The multimedia studio (Room 215-J in the TECH Center) is equipped for video shoots, audio recording, still photography sessions and video-conference interviews.

An orientation session is required prior to using the studio. To request an orientation session and studio time complete one of the following submit a request by going to http://tuhelp.temple.edu.

Recording Booths

 

TECH Center recording booths offer students a private, acoustically treated environment to record podcasts, vocal narrations, voiceovers and other individual recording sessions. The recording booths vary in size and can accommodate 1-3 people, with one booth (Booth C) being wheelchair accessible.

Specialty Labs

The TECH Center features six labs with space and/or specialized equipment and software.

  • Two video editing labs with video editing software (i.e.Adobe Premiere), dual displays, etc.
  • Audio editing lab with music composition software and audio editing software (i.e. Pro Tools).
  • Graphics lab with CAD software (i.e. Auto CAD, Rhino), engineering software (i.e. SolidWorks, Trane) and other specialty software.
  • Two quiet study labs with separates carrels for students working individually.

Specialty Printing Rooms

In addition to the print stations throughout the TECH Center, the Specialty Printing Room offers specialized printers.

To print:

  • Select appropriate printer from the print dialogue box.
  • Swipe ID at the appropriate printer release station.
  • Verify the price and page count. See Student Printing in Temple University Computer Labs for information regarding Payment for Color/Specialty Printing.
  • Select “Print” to complete print job.
  • Funds are deducted from Print Quota, if available, or Diamond Dollars for black and white laser, color laser, and inkjet printing. Diamond Dollars funds are deducted for the plotters.

3D Printing

 

3D printing is available in the TECH Center for academic use by Temple University students, faculty and staff.
