System Requirements

Unlike previous Microsoft Operating System migrations, Windows 11 has increased hardware requirements. Therefore, it will require purchasing new hardware.

The minimum computer hardware system requirements for running Windows 11, as recommended by Microsoft, are listed here . Note that these minimum requirements are not adequate for most use cases . Systems supported by ITS still need to meet the university-owned system requirements .

All Dell or Lenovo systems purchased through TUMarketplace meet the minimum Windows 11 system requirements. Please consult with your dedicated IT support and budget unit head before purchasing any new hardware.

Application Testing

ITS has tested Windows 11 against all enterprise applications, and no reported software compatibility issues exist. If you use third-party software or vendor-supported applications in your area, please confirm application compatibility with the manufacturer or your vendor prior to upgrading.
