Departmental Account - Request an Account or Reset a Password

For business continuity purposes, some departments need a departmental email address to:

  • manage high volume email demands that a single person may not be able to handle
  • send email from a department that is not associated with a particular person

Departmental accounts are not quite AccessNet accounts; they are intended to function as accounts for departmental email or shared calendar resources only. Because of security concerns regarding the use of these accounts, a department needs to provide a business justification for such an account and the request is subject to approval by the Chief Information Security Officer.

 

How do I request a departmental email account?

To submit a request for an email address for your department:

  1. Log in to TUportal with your AccessNet username and password
  2. Navigate to the TUapplications tab at the top of the page and click on Departmental Account Management
  3. Under Available Functions, select Request a New Departmental Account
  4. Follow through the prompts to request an account for your department
  5. Once your account has been approved and created you will receive an email

NOTE: As an account owner, you do not automatically have access to the account. To grant/revoke access for yourself and others, please use the TUhelp request form.

 

How do I reset the password for my departmental account? 

  1. Log in to TUportal with your AccessNet username and password
    • Only the account owners can reset the password for a departmental account.
  2. Navigate to the TUapplications tab at the top of the page and click on Departmental Account Management
  3. Once in the Departmental Account Management page, click Change Password to update password for the departmental account.
