IT Workforce Development Programs

What is this Offering? 

Collaboration with local workforce development partners and Temple HR to develop entry-level positions that do not require typical Temple HR hiring requirements.

Scope

  • ITS has built several relationships with different partners to assist in developing and onboarding entry-level talent for longer ITS commitments. 
  • The Digital Equity Center offers internships to local community members coming from partner organizations like Tech Impact, CIS, YEP, UTP, and the School District of Philadelphia. These typically last about 1 month.
  • The Digital Equity Centers offers IT Trainee positions that are part-time/20-hour-per-week positions for trainees to build off time in the seat to learn common IT tasks like break/fix, customer service, troubleshooting, and teaching tech. Some IT Trainees may cross-train in an actual ITS Team for a deeper experience.
  • ITS will partner with organizations to offer some of our teams apprenticeship positions.
  • DEC has a Cybersecurity partnership with Drexel for 1 employee currently
  • CTS currently has a Tech Support partnership with the School District of Philadelphia for 1 resource.
  • ITS is starting to Offer T23 positions that do not require a 4-year degree and experience but rather 2-3 year years of experience with some credentials for true entry-level positions.
  • ITS broadly offers Student Work Study positions where students get on-the-job experience and, in some cases, transition to a T25 full-time position
  • ITS does work with the CSPD to offer formal internships with Temple students to get an official internship
  • These plans are a work in progress, and we are starting to formalize more of our relationships. We cannot directly hire anyone without going through the normal Taleo application process, for which everyone has an equal opportunity to apply.
