Microsoft Teams Calling enables you to make and receive phone calls directly through the Microsoft Teams app on your desktop or mobile device - acting as a “soft phone.” By integrating Voice over IP (VoIP) and traditional Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) functionality, Teams Calling allows users to make and receive calls via both internet-based and traditional phone networks.
This has the advantage of allowing you to make and receive phone calls using your Temple phone number anywhere, without using call forwarding and caller ID masking. In addition, you can schedule (e.g., so it only rings during business hours) when your Temple phone number rings Teams on your cell phone. (Note: Unlike call forwarding, Microsoft Teams Calling will ring both your desk phone and all devices where you are logged in as a Teams user. When you answer on one device, all other devices will stop ringing.)
This service unifies calling with Teams’ other collaboration tools like chat, meetings, and file sharing to create a seamless communication platform for hybrid and remote work.
