Microsoft Teams Calling

What is this Service?

Microsoft Teams Calling enables you to make and receive phone calls directly through the Microsoft Teams app on your desktop or mobile device - acting as a “soft phone.” By integrating Voice over IP (VoIP) and Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) functionality, Teams Calling allows users to connect via both internet-based and traditional phone networks.

This service unifies calling with Teams’ other collaboration tools like chat, meetings, and file sharing to create a seamless communication platform for hybrid and remote work.

Who is Eligible to use it?

  • Faculty and staff with a Temple-issued DID (Direct Inward Dialing) telephone number.
  • Individuals whose departments are eligible for telecom services through Temple’s Telecom Self-Service application in TUportal.
  • Users with access to the Microsoft Teams app, installed on desktop or mobile devices.

How do I use it?

  1. Access the Telecom Self-Service application through TUportal.
  2. Request Microsoft Teams Calling setup for your Temple-issued DID number.
  3. Install the Microsoft Teams app on your device (Windows, macOS, iOS, Android).
  4. Once provisioned, you can make/receive calls within the app using your assigned Temple number.
