ITS Computer Lab Workstation Software Management

What is this Offering? 

This service provides the installation and management of software requested by Temple University schools, colleges, or departments for use in ITS-managed student computer labs, classrooms, and loaner laptops. ITS ensures proper deployment, licensing, and metering for supported environments, enabling students to access the tools they need for academic success.

Software can be deployed to locations including:

  • TECH Center Computer Lab and MacBook loaners
  • Tuttleman Learning Center (Classrooms and Lounges)
  • Wachman Hall computer lounges
  • Ambler Information Commons and Learning Center Classrooms
  • HSC TECH Center
  • TUCC (Center City) computer labs and classrooms
  • OWLab and Laptop Share laptops

Who is Eligible to use it?

This service is available to Temple University departments, schools, and colleges requesting software installation in ITS-managed academic labs, classrooms, and student loaner devices.

How do I use it?

Departments should submit a software installation request via TUhelp or through the designated request form. Proof of purchase or legal installation rights is required before ITS can proceed with deployment. Departments must also ensure vendor requirements (such as SSO integration) are met if applicable.

Cost and Limitations

  • There is no cost for installation, but departments must fund software purchases and renewals.
  • Departments must complete the university’s software preapproval process
  • ITS will not install software without proof of legal use or licensing
  • SSO integration is the department’s responsibility if required
  • ITS does not support license servers outside its management
  • Software training or instruction for students is not included
