SAS Installation

Question

How do I install SAS?

Answer

Downloading SAS:

  1. Navigate to http://download.temple.edu and login with your Temple credentials
  2. Find "SAS" listed among the list of available downloads
  3. On the SAS license agreement page, select "I Agree" and you will be taken to a new page with the actual download and license file information.
  4. If you need the SAS installer, on the center of the page, click "SAS 9.4 TS1M7, Rev. 940_21w04 (64-bit)" to download the SAS installer. As this is a fairly large download, it may take several minutes to an hour to complete the download.
  5. If you need a new SAS license file, follow the link at the bottom of the page that says "install a new license file" and follow the instructions listed on the Download site.

Technician Notes

  • Please note SAS is now University licensed and not maintained specifically by CPH
  • Help Desk should be assisting with SAS installs for personal machines
  • SAS on Temple Owned machines should be routed to department specific IT support staff
  • For CPH Students who use Macs: SAS can only be installed on Windows operating systems. Do not attempt to follow these instructions on an Apple device unless you are running Bootcamp with Windows 10/11 or have another way of running Windows 10/11. If you have a Mac, you may be able to configure Bootcamp to run Windows and SAS, depending on how much memory is installed in your Mac, but Bootcamp will not run on the new Apple M1/M2 Macs. As of Jan 2021, there is no version of Bootcamp, VMware, or Virtualbox that will run on a Apple M1/M2 computer. Therefore you cannot run SAS 9.4 on an Apple M1/M2 Mac. There is no workaround for Apple M1/M2 Macs.
