Slack Enterprise Grid

What is this Service? 

Slack is Temple University's enterprise messaging and collaboration platform, enabling teams to communicate, share files, collaborate on projects, and integrate with approved university applications. 

Temple provides Slack through Enterprise Grid, Slack's organization-wide platform. Enterprise Grid allows departments, research groups, administrative units, and student organizations to maintain their own dedicated workspaces while benefiting from centralized identity management, security, compliance, and administration. 

Enterprise Grid also supports collaboration across workspaces through shared channels, organization-wide search, and enterprise governance.

Faculty, Staff, and Researchers 

Cost and Limitations

There is an annual fee of $72.00 per user that is renewable each financial year on July 1.  

A valid university business, academic or research purpose is required. 

Obtaining a Slack Enterprise License

A Slack Enterprise License can be obtained via TUmarketplace. Follow the instructions to order Slack here.

Requesting New or Migrating Existing Workspaces

Faculty, staff, researchers, and students with an approved business or academic need may request a new Slack workspace within the Temple University Enterprise Grid organization.  Slack Workspace Owners who have not migrated to Enterprise Grid should migrate their workspace as soon as possible to take advantage of the above benefits.

Scope

  • Provision and manage access to Enterprise Grid workspaces 
  • Provision and manage access to non-Enterprise Grid staff, as requested, who work directly with Slack Enterprise Grid workspace members, 
  • Ensure the availability and accessibility of the offering. 
  • Implement security measures such as discoverability. 
  • Provide support for requests for access and related incidents. 
  • Does not include the support or provisioning of non-Grid instances of Slack in use around the university. 
  • Does not include troubleshooting of the Slack mobile or desktop applications.
