HP PIN Printing (also known as Secure Release or Job Storage Printing) is a security feature that holds a print job in the printer's memory until you physically walk to the machine and enter a custom PIN. This prevents sensitive or confidential documents from sitting unattended in the output tray and safeguards university data.

Note: If you are trying to print on a Managed HP MPS Device that contains any SENSITIVE or CONFIDENTIAL information, and you are unable to configure the application for PIN printing, DO NOT PRINT. Please contact the Technology Support Center (https://help.temple.edu ) or your dedicated support staff for assistance.

Windows PIN Printing

If your work processes require you to handle sensitive or confidential data, please configure your default printer settings to require PIN printing. Enabling this setting at the OS level ensures that all application print jobs (e.g., M365, Adobe, and browsers) require a secure PIN release.

Please Note: Once you set a PIN within Windows, all print jobs (public, sensitive, and confidential) will use the set PIN to print.

macOS PIN Printing

If your work processes require you to handle sensitive or confidential data, please configure your print job settings to require PIN printing. Enabling this setting at the application level ensures that specific application print jobs (e.g., M365, Adobe, and browsers) require a secure PIN release.

Please Note: Once you set a PIN per application, all print jobs (public, sensitive, and confidential) will use the set PIN to print from that application.
